Position Purpose

Eastern Animal Hospital is eager to add another veterinarian to our general practice and/or urgent care teams! We have an expansive team with multiple decades of veterinary experience – 11 DVMs and over 30 support staff members! Our practice continues to grow and serve as a fantastic opportunity for any veterinary professional. As a veterinarian at EAH, you will see patients in need of wellness, internal medicine, urgent and/or emergency care; all without having to worry about the dreaded overnight shift! At EAH, you will have access to all the in-house medical equipment and diagnostics that you will need to provide gold-standard medicine when it matters most. If interested, you will have the opportunity to participate in both primary and urgent care rotations with other doctors so you can still see primary care cases without having to worry about solely working primary care shifts.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Examine and treat companion animals to detect and determine the nature of disease or injuries.
  • Operate diagnostic equipment and collect diagnostic samples as well as interpret results.
  • Advise pet owners on preventative care and treatment options.
  • Perform surgery and prescribe medication as needed.
  • Provide counsel around pet end of life care.
  • Maintain patients’ medical records.
  • Ensures compliance with veterinary ethics and relevant statues, policies, and procedures.

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from an accredited AVMA institution.
  • Appropriate state licensure.
  • Eligibility to obtain DEA/BNDD.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrates professional and courteous presentation consistently with staff and clients.
  • Ability to lift patients and carry equipment up to 25 pounds; ability to lift patients or carry equipment over 25 pounds with assistance.

Registered Veterinary Technician

Position Purpose

The Credentialed Veterinary Technician performs a critical role in providing high quality care for patients. Credentialed Technicians are key partners to the veterinarians, providing the appropriate support to ensure each client interaction and procedure is seamless and successful. Credentialed Technicians apply their professional skills in anesthesia, surgery, dentistry, laboratory testing, patient nursing, and client education.

  • Assist veterinarians in outpatient exams by taking histories, vital signs, and weights, as well as providing client education.
  • Prepare patients for surgery and monitor vital signs of the patient during surgery.
    Obtain blood, stool, and other samples; perform in-hospital laboratory testing and prepare specimens for outside laboratories.
  • Take, develop, and maintain radiographs following proper safety procedures.
  • Provide basic animal handling and restrain animals during exams.
  • Administer and monitor medications, anesthesia, vaccines, and treatments at the discretion of the veterinarian.
  • Clean and straighten exam rooms, treatment, and lab areas; restock exam rooms with supplies. Assist other team members to keep the public areas of the practice clean; clean and maintain all medical equipment.
  • Demonstrate warmth, courtesy and professionalism in all interactions with clients; exercise compassion and care in all interactions with patients.
  • Communicate with veterinarians and practice team members including client discussions, patient plans, client concerns, etc.
  • Any other duties as assigned.

  • State license to work as a certified/licensed/registered veterinary technician in state of desired employment

Veterinary Assistant

Position Purpose

The Veterinary Assistant assists the veterinarians and technicians with patient care and treatment, monitors hospitalized pets, maintains inventory, prepares prescriptions, performs routine in-house laboratory work, educates clients regarding veterinary care and procedures, and assists with surgical procedures. We are seeking a candidate with solid work history who is enthusiastic and reliable!

Pay: $16 – $17 p/hr, depending on experience

Kennel Assistant

Position Purpose
Reporting into the Practice Manager, the Kennel Assistant provides care to address the needs of patients that are visiting the practice for grooming and / or boarding. The Kennel Assistant ensures that the boarding area is clean and safe for all patients by cleaning cages, runs, and ward areas and washing laundry. The Kennel Assistant walks, feeds, and administers medication to patients (as needed and supervised by Doctor or Technician and based on confidence and experience). The Kennel Assistant would work in our Pet Resort (Doggie Daycare) and our Kennel area.

Pay: $16 – $17 p/hr, depending on experience

Ability to work weekends and holidays is required.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Provides great care for patients visiting the practice for grooming and / or boarding.
  • Ensures patients are admitted noting the client’s specific instructions to ensure a quality outcome including contact information and pick up time.
  • Accurately and legibly records information related to the patient such as feeding schedules, appearance, and behavior during practice visit.
  • Observes patient’s appearance and activity for general physical condition, obvious signs of illness, disease and discontent.
  • Appropriately handles patients and as needed, properly restrains hard-to-control patients.
  • Walks patients several times a day to provide exercise and time for elimination of bowels and bladder.
  • Applies knowledge of normal food and liquid requirements and as required, provides special food and liquids.
  • Ensures patients are clean and fresh smelling and have been checked by a Technician / Doctor prior to discharge; ensures patient has all personal property upon exit.
  • Ensures cages and patients are properly numbered and identified and that personal property (toys, treats, blankets, leashes) are stored in the proper areas and identified.
  • Regularly cleans, disinfects and maintain kennels, cages, runs and stalls as often as is necessary to ensure no cages or kennels are soiled and odors are not apparent. Performs general cleaning in other areas of the hospital to control the spread of disease. Washes and sterilizes water and food bowls.
  • Launders and dries towels and blankets.
  • Walks hospital grounds regularly and cleans any trash and stool material; empties trash throughout the practice and grounds.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
